Finishing Screens

For several years, J&K Mfg. of Chester Ne., in
conjunction with St. John Welding & Mfg. of St. John,
Ks. has been manufacturing non-adjustable finishing
screens for combines. As opposed to other cleaning
screens produced by OEM and others, these finishing
screens have opening sizes and configurations
designed for more universal and varied operation.

ADVANTAGES:

CLEANER SAMPLE --

Openings are sized closer to grain size. There
are no slots which open and scalp unthreshed head
chunks, whitecaps or pods into the clean grain. Since
the screen is flat, these particles, along with fines are
blown into the return more efficiently.

HIGHER CAPACITY --

Openings run full distance from front to rear of
these finishing screens, instead of being interrupted by
flat portions of standard fingers. An adjustable sieve, in
order to clean mose efficiently, has approximately 20%
-- 24% opening in small grains and approximately 30% -
- 40% opening in beans, etc. A small grain finishing
screen has 56% --58% opening, a large grain finishing
screen has 51% --54% opening.

SIMPLICITY AND LONGEVITY --

No adjustment is available or required on
finishing screens. This means no moving parts to wear
out.

Finishing screens are available in configurations
for many crops. Small grains (wheat/milo, etc.), beans
and popcorn, field corn, alfalfa & other grass seeds.
They have been used in conjunction with the non-
adjustable airfoil chaffer and it has been found that
since more air can be used without blowover, crops
can be cleaned more efficiently with more grain saved.
